This is not the real book cover but it’s more dramatic ;)

Breaking my John Grisham cherry with a late sequel, I devoured The Exchange. This legal thriller delivers nonstop action and suspense, even without reading The Firm first.

While some fans miss a stronger connection to the original, The Exchange stands on its own. Enough backstory is woven in that newcomers like me didn’t feel lost.

Mitch McDeere is back, fifteen years after leaving Memphis with a bang. Now a hotshot lawyer in Manhattan, he gets pulled into a global conspiracy that puts everything on the line. The pacing is relentless, keeping you glued to the page until the explosive finale.

Minor quibbles? Sure, it could have delved deeper into the past. But overall, The Exchange is a thrilling ride that proves Grisham still knows how to spin a captivating yarn.

4/5 stars. Highly recommended for legal thriller fans, newcomers, and veterans alike. The reason its rating is not higher on Amazon or GoodReads is that the fans of the first book, think this is not a sequel!
